Purpose of the survey
The survey aims to provide a comprehensive overview of Swiss institutional repositories by collecting detailed information on their infrastructure, metadata practices, governance, and sustainability.
Its purpose is to identify common strengths, gaps, and barriers across institutions and to inform a national roadmap that will help harmonize metadata practices, align with international standards, and strengthen the visibility and interoperability of Swiss research outputs.
The design of this survey has been inspired by several international initiatives, including:

the National Open Research Forum (NORF) Survey of Open Repositories in Ireland ;
the OpenAIRE / LIBER / SPARC Europe / COAR Joint Survey of Open Repositories in Europe ;
the COAR consultation on “Crafting a Vision for European Repositories” ;
and the institutional repository workflow survey carried out within the Working Group 2 (Taskforce 1: Metadata in Institutional Repositories) of the Barcelona Declaration on Open Research Information.
