1. Working at FIWARE Foundation has allowed me to take on many different tasks that perhaps at other companies wouldn't fall within the scope of my job title. That isn't always easy but thanks to this I have been able to dip my toes into various other related fields of work and step out of my comfort zone. 2. No day is the same. There is always a different mix of tasks to be done and I don't do the same thing every day, which makes working more enjoyable for me. 3. Though (imo) the company itself doesn't actively encourage a healthy work-life balance (ie. quite a lot of overtime, emails that are sent at all hours of the day, colleagues mentioning they worked on weekends), I have noticed that once you figure out that you have to set your own boundaries, the company is surprisingly accommodating. I am, therefore, satisfied with the level of flexibility, and that includes the ability to work from home when I want/need to post-Covid.

salary scale professional growth stress management from team members that lead to angry communication in email or text and uncomfortable situations with team and outside partners
- sometimes too random management - lack of mentorship (especially for new techs) - mkt and tech are isolated to each other
* The workload is extremely high. Pretty much everybody agrees on that * With 10% of inflation, the salaries should be guaranteed to rise at least 10% (salary is good, but in a few years, we'll see ...)
Unreal matching between the work and the people allocation to projects
1. Animosity and disrespectful behaviour between colleagues. Though I have rarely been on the receiving end of this, it happens quite a lot (out in the open, during calls, via emails, in chat messages) and it has a detrimental effect on the team and the willingness of some to work together in an harmonious and respectful manner. 2. Though this is improving, I believe there is still too much work for the size of the team(s). It would be great to move further away from stretching the team(s) to meet the growing task list and instead adapt (grow) the size of the team(s) to meet the list of tasks. 3. The amount of events. Again, this is improving little by little but there was a time when I truly felt we were prioritising quantity over quality and just hopping from 1 event to the next. Considering there is also a lot of other work to be done, it leaves the team very thinly stretched, especially when traveling is also involved. On that note, traveling on weekends is also not great.

Hard to get started, understanding how things work Missunderstandings Takes time to get the full FIWARE picture
- Events and over hours: traveling on weekends, event days that last from 8am to late in the evening without compensation (time or money). - Toxic work culture (between colleagues and within teams). Colleagues who shout at each other (verbally or in written form). Little patience for people with a different opinion (especially when there is already friction between certain people in the team). Though I am rarely at the receiving end of this, it doesn't make for a pleasant working environment and it makes working as a team that much more difficult when person a doesn't want to interact with person b and so on. Passive aggressive behaviour that could be done without if people were structurally called out for their (bad) behaviour. - No official feedback system. No one-on-ones, no review cycle, no "real" way of knowing whether management is satisfied with your work and to highlight areas where you could improve.

- "team work" -> always good if we work together in a team, but (at least CTO team) there are few connection points between the members, little visibility of the work between the team members - reluctance to learn new technology, "modern craftsmanship" -> for a Foundation with "Future Internet" in the name, we rely quite a lot on outdated technology and do not spend enough time to stay up-to-date with the developments inside the software industry - Public Research Projects that do not really research anything new, but just rewarm old stuff without any visible benefit for the public(f.e. Token, Impress, AI-Marketplace)

- have a conversation about professional growth with each employee - communication of what we achieve can be better acknowledged and compensated by management - Board decisions regarding personnel rotation should not be taken lightly , if team members are reporting bad behaviour from a team member , and if the behaviour continues , this can be read as if the board is also giving consent to recurrent bad behaviour. That is detrimental to the mental health of other team members and punishing good people instead.
sort of basic tech training for marketing team, it would help to understand the topics better. perhaps daily meetings but it's appliable to selected projects only.
o Better administrative tools, for vacations, work sheets, travel expenses, etc. One single "interconnected" tool. We'd save a lot of time!

1. Hold people accountable for their (bad) behaviour and call them out on it (in a respectful manner). I feel like Management doesn't step in often enough when people start being disrespectful to one another or when a complaint is received. 2. Enable more autonomy in the workplace. 3. Travel policy - usually in a working trip allowance does not cover expenses for food and there is a need to spend personal funds, as well it is common practice to be paid extra for working trips as you spend there more than 8 hours a day working. Logistics. The team should work as loaders at the events and load and unload heavy things. It is not in the scope of work and is well bad for health. To establish employee development programs and performance reviews - for studying and clear process of possibilities to increase salary.
Need for more structure/ advance warning of up coming events or commitments. Clear delegation and backfill - who covers for me and when? Need to work on breaking out of the Tech/Marketing silos - Who is learning what I know? How to better spread knowledge?

- Hire more people to match the workload instead of stretching the current group of employees to meet the ever-growing workload. - room and encouragement to learn and stay up-to-date with technology - more team-interaction/communication -> find a way to communicate the various topics and projects in the team - less "short-time" traveling - in-person meetings for a 1-1,5 days are highly inefficient(due to travel times) and counterproductive from an environmental perspective, rely even more on remote meetings, carefully decide when to travel (as a fourth: camera on in meetings - keeps people more active and invested)

Yes, change meetings for off line communications please! Sometimes, 3hs meetings are not necessary and a lot of thing can be communicated by emails and / or presentations.

- Better explanation on the pay-rise policies. It was told in general that it is oriented at inflation, yet the last one was far from the actual inflation rate without an explanation.
1. Internal communication and respect in the team Some of our colleagues make the work process difficult and full of unnecessary bureaucracy, which takes time that could be spent on other tasks. Also there‘s no respect for others sometimes or even rude behaviour with offensive messages and stress that you could avoid in respectful surrounding. 2. Business trips issues. We have financial coverage only for food and no extra payments for business trips. Which usually could be paid additionally, because you work out of regular work hours. And most of trips we paying more for our needs that it‘s covered. 2.1 Local/home-base events When we have local events and don‘t travel for it, we don‘t have any food coverage or extra money for the event, but our colleagues who travel to these events from other countries have some financial coverage. 3. Dinners with business partners during business trips. Often during events we have meetings with our colleagues and partners at the dinner. For other teams, the company covers it, we pay for ourselves. And it‘s always a question if it‘ll be covered by FIWARE. Of course you can decide not to go, but by default it‘s part of business processes and networking. 4. Obligation to load/unload stuff for fairs It's a strange tradition that we need not only to prepare things that we need for fairs, but participate as loaders in its transportation. First of all it can be traumatic, also it usually goes in conflict with our main tasks and affects our schedule. 5. Unbalanced workflow. We have an unbalanced workflow with a lot of tasks for one person, sometimes deadlines overlapping and making success impossible without overworking hours.
