SURVEY INFORMATION

West Lothian Council has allocated funding to make improvements to the Play Area at Philip Avenue in Boghall, Bathgate in 2026. The aim of the project is to upgrade expiring equipment and review the overall play provision in this neighbourhood.

The works proposed are as below:

1. Replace the expiring timber equipment at Philip Avenue Play Area to support the long term safe use of the space
2. Replace the burnt down multi unit at Philip Avenue Play Area with a like-for-like toddler unit with a slide to ensure sufficient play opportunities are available in this space
3. Refurbish the expired Play Area at Charles Crescent as Natural Play to provide more flexible and diverse play opportunities across the area

Our Open Space Officers will collate all the responses, review the available budgets and implement your suggestions, based on popularity, suitability and the benefits to the wider community and user groups. Where budget remains, public suggestions will be taken on board as much as appropriate.

Please fill out the survey below to help us make the most positive impact for you and your community. We recommend that you visit the Play Space before filling out the rest of the survey, or even fill it out in the Park itself.

We encourage all children to fill the survey out themselves or with some help. This is a great way to help foster independence and an active relationship with public spaces around them.

The survey deadline is 20th January 2026.

A final report detailing survey results and next steps will be published after data is analysed.
